If you child deletes the second consonant sound in a cluster, you may need to work on that smaller word chunk (e.g., “lice”), and THEN try adding the /s/ at the start to make the cluster.

Learning a new sound can be hard! Even though we didn’t practice this sound too much in isolation (I moved onto syllables and words very quickly), I think they were working so hard trying to cue themselves to use the “k” sound, that they kept saying the sound in isolation… then the rest of the word.

Saying it fast helped 👏🏼

Do you see how we had to use visuals to try to help the child HEAR the difference in the sounds by SEEING the difference?

Have you ever worked on or seen this before?

Have you ever had a child do this?
I find holding up the mouth cues to SHOW the child the sound can really help 👏🏼

What are your thoughts about this??

Being a parent to a child with speech sound errors, I am guided by HER and how SHE FEELS about her speech.

I told myself I won’t “make her” come to therapy if she is happy with how she sounds.

Sometimes our students need to “see” what they’re doing with their tongue 👅 and then you can find the right cues that help them with new tongue placement!

Do you relate? Were you told to start an assessment speaking to the parents and getting a case history first?

That doesn’t work for me 🙃

1️⃣ We started with opening the mouth
2️⃣ Accepted a throaty sound and shaped it into a softer sound
3️⃣ Next we cued the child to say it faster 🤗

Make sure you follow AISP for all our speech elicitation tips!

Has this ever worked for you? Have you elicited a “y” starting with the “ee” vowel?

Who says assessments have to be dry and boring??

The amount of laughter we get imitating these animals as part of our oral motor assessment is soooooo good for rapport building!!

Do you send video clips to parents and carers? I’ve found it can be particularly helpful at the beginning of therapy when the child is still learning about their sounds and we want to reinforce consistent cues that work in our therapy session, in the home environment.

  1. Becky (verified owner)

These are SO good for home practice!! They save me so much time- they’re clear and easy for families to understand. Plus, I always know Rebecca’s work is high quality, so I don’t have to worry about writing extra ideas on the pages. They’re fun and engaging for kids too. Thank you!

  2. Yolanda L.

I have been using these homework sheets weekly since I purchased them. Such a great investment with no prep! This is one of the purchases you buy and will actually use, both in therapy and to send home with the students to continue practicing at home. Thanks!

  3. Emily C.

I am so pleased to finally have all of these fun and no prep worksheets to not only use during therapy to achieve high repetitions, but I am just as excited for parents to be able to understand what we are doing and practice at home with their kids as well!

  4. Kayla S.

Absolutely loved these materials! I used them in therapy and as homework. The students loved having “games” to take home. There are enough materials for every sound/phonological process that it can provide homework all year! I especially loved the letter to parents which saved me from having to write a note on each paper I sent home.

  5. Abigail P.

So much great information in this bundle. Very helpful that there is homework built right in to provide for caregivers

  6. Jena S.

Ever since getting the Minimal Pairs Handbook, I have been using this method more and more. And these homework pages make it so easy to provide quality targets for my students to practice at home. Thanks for consistently producing such high quality products!

  7. Thalia G.

Such a great resource! Very easy to print and give to parents and use for generalization. Thank you 🙂
