I’m open to receiving feedback and questions on this therapy clip! As an SLP who aims to “practice at the top of my license” (as @classlab_kelly @cari.ebert.seminars advocate), I regularly re-watch my therapy clips to reflect and learn!

So, keeping it professional, I’m open to hearing what you think on this session that was focusing on generalization of /s/.

I have many different types of cues up my sleeve for students who present with a frontal lisp… but the play dough tongue HAS to be a favourite of mine because it’s so big, visual, and easy to manipulate!

So… have you ever found this to work for your students?

These lips 👄 they’ll only make the sound more distorted!!

If you’re child does this, try:
1️⃣ sitting side-by-side in front of a mirror
2️⃣ tell the child their lips need to look like a circle ⭕️
3️⃣ you have to be able to see their front teeth touching (or nearly touching). DON’T LET THE LIPS HIDE THE TEETH

All our “ch” elicitation tips come from the Ch & J Sound Handbook - link in profile!

Description

Are you looking for a way to get high repetitions with your articulation students, instead of them just saying each word once? This DIGITAL version of my best-selling Articulation Squares (paper version) encourages students to say initial, medial and final words using their target sound. Teletherapy can be challenging when you screen share and the student can’t see your face clearly. With the inclusion of visual mouth cues, your student has that extra cue to help them remember the correct production of their target.

1. AIM: To increase practice trials in speech therapy
2. METHOD: Choose a target word, practice the target five times (by pointing to/tapping the hand visuals), then drag the picture across to fill up the square.

How can I reach 100 trials?
This resource includes 12 target sounds. Use the following equation to figure out how many practice trials are needed:

  • Say each word x5 times each (= 60 trials)
  • Use TWO PAGES and say each word x5 times each (= 120 trials)
  • You might include this resource as one part of your session

⭐ This is a DIGITAL RESOURCE requiring an internet connection to play⭐

  1. Lindsay K.

This is a very straightforward resource that is easy to use with distance learning, and offers many speech sounds in one place. I found this very helpful to use, and you can use it for quick or sustained practice, depending on the learner and how you want to use it. I like the moving pictures so kids feel like they’re in control, whether they physically move it or tell me where they want it moved to.

  2. Sarah M.

I’m obsessed. This is extremely well designed for keeping kids engaged and getting a high number of productions. The targets are wonderful, the illustrations are clear, the overall resource is well organized. I know I’ll continue to use this as a therapy staple for distance learning and in person. I highly recommend!
