Use this app to collect data in speech therapy

If I asked you to guess what question I get asked the most, what would you say? You might guess it is about my products or treatment approach questions. But you would likely be wrong! The questions I get the most are about the tools I use in therapy and my little tips and tricks I have picked up over the years.

The number one app people ask me about is TxTools by PediaStaff. This free app is my favorite for achieving 100 trials in speech therapy.

Data Collection in Speech Therapy

It’s more than just an app-based tally counter; it also generates percentage correct data for you. I keep the app on my table to show my students our goal of 50 practices. This interactive approach keeps students engaged and motivated, making our therapy sessions both effective and fun.

TIPS FOR USING THE APP

  1. My younger students love to tap the buttons! If they say a clear target sound they feel very proud to be able to “tap the green button” so that I can count all their clear sounds!
  2. My older students can be very motivated to “see” their percentage and it can really motivate them in session to say their sounds clearly to get a high score.
  3. It’s also my fave app to take a conversational speech sample to determine what percentage of the child’s speech goals are carrying over to conversation. I simply have it on the therapy table or floor and tap each button to get a good sample. This can be helpful for monitoring progress and decision-making regarding discharging.
